AUSTRALIAN
TERRIER TRUST
JOINS AKC CANINE
HEALTH FOUNDATION
WITH MATCHING FUNDS CAMPAIGN

AUGUST 2021

Friends of Aussies:

In recognition of our 10th Anniversary, the Australian Terrier Trust has partnered with the AKC Canine Health Foundation (CHF)  to match donations in support of CHF-funded Endocrinology Research up to $10,000.

Matching funds will first support CHF Grant 02948-A: Effect of Glycemic Control on the Onset of Cataract Development in Diabetic Dogs. This pilot study seeks to determine if poor long-term glucose control is associated with earlier onset and faster progression of cataract formation in diabetic dogs. Results will inform whether tighter glucose control may delay the onset of cataracts and have One Health implications regarding diabetic cataracts in humans as well.

Right now, your gift can make an even bigger difference. A donation to the AusTTrust today will be matched by the Trust before being contributed to the AKC Canine Health Foundation thus doubling the impact of the contribution.

Although contributions made directly to the AKC Canine Health Foundation for endocrinology research will also be matched by the AusTTrust, we would like to encourage Australian Terrier owners to contribute directly to the AusTTrust in order to demonstrate their commitment to supporting the health of our breed.

We want to thank our Friends of Aussies for your continued support of the Australian Terrier Trust! We are committed to improving the health of Australian Terriers. With this match challenge, we continue that commitment while also helping other breeds with endocrine health issues.

CHF also funds research addressing Cushing’s disease, Addison’s disease, and hypothyroidism in its endocrinology portfolio. These studies are part of an $11.4 million active research portfolio examining the health needs of all dogs across their entire lifetime. For more information: www.akcchf.org/
